Report
Chuck Hanes and Elizabeth Collins of Beauty and Beast Art, long time residents of Morgan County, have been full time time studio potters for over 15 years. They not only make functional pottery such as dishes, face mugs, face jugs, and baking wares but create complex original sculptural artwork using clay and many natural elements.

My story is a journey with many detours, but always coming back to painting. I have a lot in common with the Impressionists; however, I do not have a specific message - it is more like a conversation. I am fascinated by colors, shadows, reflections, and the play of light and space all around me. Born in Long Island, New York, I studied art at the New York University College in New Paltz, New York in the 1970's.

In 2005 a wonderful new medium opened up for me when I followed an intensive glass fusion course in The Netherlands. Over the years since I've further expanded my experience in working with glass to include bead making/torch work and some glass blowing. Today my creative focus is primarily making functional, one of a kind, glass pieces utilizing diverse glass making techniques.

I am originally from Crawford County, Georgia, home of the Lizella Red Clay I use in my pottery. I grew up surrounded by this clay. This clay was dug a mile to the east of my childhood home and processed a half-mile to the west. Lizella Red Clay even provided my first job, as I worked at Lizella Clay Company while in high school.
