MWA Code of Excellence
Report
For the first time in its history, the members of the Maine Windjammer Association have developed a Code of Excellence that expresses the values of its membership and defines the hallmarks of an MWA windjammer cruise. Community: The Captains of the Maine Windjammer Association work together to ensure the highest standards of safety, comfort and professionalism.
Our Ships
Report
The J. & E. Riggin was built as an oystering schooner in 1927 in Dorchester, New Jersey, and gained a fine reputation in the Delaware Bay as an able sailor, winning the only Oyster Schooner Race ever held. Fresh from an extensive rebuild, the Ladona ex. Nathaniel Bowditch offers a windjamming experience that hearkens to her vintage pedigree as a 1922 racing yacht.
Our Cruises
Report
Your all-inclusive Maine windjammer cruise is probably the most relaxing sailing vacation you'll ever experience. Here is what you can expect on your journey. You'll spend about six hours each day under sail meandering through the islands and bays of mid-coast Maine. Guests are invited to participate in all shipboard activities, from taking a turn at the wheel to raising and lowering sails.
Special Events and Cruises
Report
A cruise aboard any of the Maine Windjammer Association's member vessels is certainly special. Each of the vessels is individually owned and operated and the offerings tend to be just as unique as the Captain and his or her crew.

For example, no matter what vessel you sail on or what month of the sailing season it is, you'll be treated to an authentic beach-side lobster bake, the food will be amazing, the gorgeous scenery will always be photography worthy, and you are virtually guaranteed to sail past one of Maine's many light houses or catch a glimpse of a seal, porpoise, whale, puffin, heron, osprey, etc.
