About Jim
Report
Jim Hansel, one of America's premier wildlife, nature and landscape artists, is an artist with a twist. At age 6, Jim was diagnosed with a degenerative eye condition called Stargardts. This eye condition has left him legally blind. In spite of his limited vision, he pursued his passion for painting with the use of low vision devices and has become one of the most collected artists in the United States and Canada.

He shares stories from his life on how all of us can overcome adversity and challenges in our own lives and to find the best in ourselves. At a young age, Jim was diagnosed with a form of macular degeneration, which later resulted in his loss of vision, leaving him legally blind.

What is a Giclee Canvas? A giclee canvas (zhee-CLAY) is an individually produced, high-resolution, high- fidelity reproduction done on a special large format printer. Giclee, a French term meaning "spraying of ink", is produced from digital scans of the original artwork. A fine stream of ink, more than four million droplets per second, is sprayed onto a specially treated canvas.
