Karen is the owner and director at CSL. She graduated from Ithaca College with a Bachelor's Degree in Speech Pathology and received her Masters Degree from Emerson College in Communication Disorders. Karen has always worked with the pediatric population but also provides services to adults. She worked with multiple handicapped children at the Massachusetts Hospital School in Canton, Mass.

Chatham Speech and Language Associates provides evaluation and treatment of many childhood speech and language disorders, as well as myofunctional therapy for children to adults. During the evaluation process we gather developmental history and medical history prior to determining what type of evaluation is indicated.

Babies have the innate need to suck. It's a reflex they are born with. Non-nutritive sucking (NNS) refers to a sucking behavior that does not provide any nutritional benefit. Surprisingly, NNS can actually be beneficial for babies. NNS is the first step in helping babies learn to self-regulate emotions and feelings and to self-soothe.
Orofacial Myology

Orofacial myology is the science and clinical knowledge dealing with muscles of the mouth and face (orofacial muscles). Speech-language pathologists and registered dental hygienists are health professionals who can specialize in orofacial myology, working to treat orofacial myofunctional disorders (OMDs).
