Evelyn Alexander Wildlife Rescue Center's mission is "To preserve and protect our region's native wildlife by providing rehabilitation services and education to raise public awareness of the factors that threaten its abundance and diversity." The Evelyn Alexander Wildlife Rescue Center depends upon volunteers for a wide variety of tasks.
And, because the animals depend on us for their very existence, we do ask for a serious commitment from our volunteers. Volunteers can help the animals in many ways. You can also call us at (631) 728-WILD. An application will be sent to you and a staff member will contact you for an interview.

Services
Birds
Report
If the bird is not listed, feel free to contact our 24-hour wildlife hotline at (631) 728-WILD (9453). Remember, not all wild animals need our help. Each spring and summer, thousands of baby birds are unnecessarily "rescued" and brought to veterinary hospitals, wildlife centers, or worse yet, kept as pets.
Reptiles
Report
Most reptiles are ecto-therms, meaning their body temperature is directly related to the outside environment. This means, they emerge on sunny, warm days to sun themselves; and retreat to dark, quiet places to hibernate on cold days. Remember, not all wild animals need our help. There is no such thing as a baby reptile.
