Wonder Awhile Nursery School (WANS) is a child's world, offering meaningful educational experiences suited to the maturity level and physical development of our students. Play is a child's natural way of learning (it is his work). Our nursery school creates a challenging environment with materials and activities geared to the physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development of young children.
Our goal is that your child's early experiences here prepare him for a love of learning that carries over to his educational journey ahead. Wonder Awhile Nursery School is accepting registrations for the upcoming School year. Children who are 3, 4, or 5 years old are invited to attend. Occasionally there are openings during the current school year.

I am pleased to be asked to pen a message about Winthrop United Methodist Church (WUMC) and Wonder Awhile Nursery School (WANS) because I had the privilege in 1964 of being the co-founder. The idea of starting WANS was born in a study-prayer-sharing group out of concerns for the need of a ministry for young children and their families in the Winthrop area.

Wonder Awhile Nursery School is sponsored by the Winthrop United Methodist Church. Our purpose is to provide a well-designed, developmentally appropriate environment that addresses each child's social, physical, emotional, and intellectual growth. The nursery school is a nurturing setting that provides for the children's development, creativity, and imagination.

Jane Brennan has over forty years working in the early care and education field in family child care, center-based care, and public pre-kindergarten. After completing her graduate degree, she worked on two Early Learning Opportunity Grants as an Early Literacy Specialist. Working in that capacity, she was able to combine her two loves: young children and books.
