Here is my opportunity to show you the style difference between the buttercream and rolled fondant designs. In my area, I find most brides confused by the type of frosting that we use to achieve the look that they desire. Most bridal magazines today only offer rolled fondant designs that brides fall in love with.

Maybe you can find a style that suits you!. We Americans [at least those in my area] prefer the buttercream, melt in your mouth, smooth with a spatula, and pipe on decorations, to anything else. Maybe it is reminiscent of homemade birthday cakes of our childhood.

Rolled Fondant Cakes

Rolled fondant has been gaining in popularity in the United States for the last 10 years or so. Due in large part to many of the tv cake shows and challenges we are able to view now. To be specific, it is a sugar dough that is rolled out similar to pie crust and draped over a shaped cake. It is then molded to the sides and trimmed at the bottom to achieve a flawless, porcelain- like finish.

Again, they reflect how different people enjoy different interests and those interests can be replicated in the art of cakes! 3 Dimensional cakes, again I believe, are gaining in popularity because of the cake shows we are able to view on tv. They give us a whole new window of opportunity to express our individuality.
