Rebecca teaches all ages of students, from 5 on up. She seeks to make lessons fun and engaging for her students, while at the same time providing a solid foundation of basic music skills. Her overall goal is to instill a love of music in each student that will carry throughout their lives. In addition to private teaching, she serves as bassoon instructor at Virginia Tech and Radford University.
She is also a faculty member of The Virginia Governor's School for Humanities and Visual and Performing Arts, held each summer at Radford. She has served as an instructor at the Roanoke Youth Symphony Orchestra Summer Music Institute, held at Hollins University. Her formal training includes a Bachelor of Music degree in bassoon performance from the highly acclaimed Eastman School of Music, in Rochester, NY.

Rebecca is a wonderful, experienced, and passionate teacher! My 7-year old son has been taking lessons with her for the past two years and it's been amazing! She has great patience and as a teacher myself I recognize how important of a quality this is, especially working with younger students (although there are older students working with her as well).

Students ages 5-6 have a 30 minute private lesson. Students ages 7-18 also participate in a 30 minute Lab time session in addition to a private lesson, for a total of 60 minutes. Lab is required for all new students ages 7 and above. Students will need either a piano or a high quality keyboard with a pedal at home, before starting lessons.

Each week, students earned a gold coin to put in their treasure chest on the wall, as seen below. At the end of the three week challenge, students who collected all three coins earned their own treasure chest full of loot as a reward! We had a 100% completion rate this year! Way to go, everyone! We rocked the practicing this year with our practice incentive event!
