Medical Treatment of Pain
Report
Pain Management grew out of the field of Anesthesiology, because anesthesia has always been about controlling pain, from treating pain during surgery, to treating acute pain on the hospital wards, to treating pain during childbirth, to treating chronic pain in the outpatient clinic. Pain management has grown into a specialty of its own, now drawing from many different disciplines.
Interventional Pain Management
Report
Interventional Pain Management refers to surgical or needle-based treatments for pain. These treatments are sometimes used for diagnostic purposes, that is, to try and determine the cause of the pain, and sometimes are used for therapeutic purposes, that is, to try and reduce or eliminate the pain.
