Why Misti Layne (beyond the cool name) when there are so many professionals and amateurs with nice cameras to choose from? Images tell a story and they are there for me to find. It is about me watching, listening, learning and being at the ready for the instant THE image hits me and I push the button.

I have been taking photographs since the wee age of four. Yes, you read that correctly. I was a flower girl in a wedding and because I was being a little well, pissy, someone gave me a camera to get my mind off of things. It worked and from that point on I was all smiles.
Thankfully, my mom recognized and nurtured my new-found interest in photography by giving me her little Instamatic, leftover from the 1960's, pulled from a box in the attic like a rare treasure.I began shooting with that Instamatic and elating with every push of the button, knowing I had captured a moment in time forever.

Oh, if I had been wiser in my youth! I would have realized far sooner that combining my camera and love of music and musicians would have led to an earlier career in live music photography. Alas, I took a very long and very indirect path. I did, however, eventually get there and I love being in the crowd, the noise and all the rest.
