After 20 years at the Smithsonian my husband and I had plenty of wonderful t-shirts stored away. I wanted to have a quilt made, so my husband helped me pack up all his T-shirts. Not long after he was killed in a car accident. I returned to my home after his death to find a wonderful quilt. Now I'm able to sleep beneath his T-shirts every night.
Our memory quilt is of our daughter's cancer journey. Heather was 21 when she was diagnosed with an ultra-rare form of cancer and died weeks before she would have turned 26. Her quilt reminds us of her strength and humor as well as being an ongoing symbol at all our American Cancer Society Relay for Life events of her legacy.

That first quilt was radically, but simply different from any other T-shirt quilt of the time. No sashing was used in between the shirts, allowing the eye to flow from one T-shirt to another. When do you stop going to college? It took Andrea an undergrad degree in Communications, a Master's in Communications, a Master's in Graphic Design, a Military Journalism degree and a CPCU insurance degree to decided enough is enough.

By visiting our pricing page you can determine how many T-shirts you will need for the size quilt you would like. Please either view our video or read our written instructions on how to mark what part(s) of your T-shirts you would not like used. Then print out and fill in the order form. If you have special instructions please write them on the order form or include them with the order form on a separate sheet of paper.

On your order form you will find the name, address and phone number for your quilter. Please call your quilter before you mail your T-shirts so she can be watching for your box to arrive. Before you ship your T-shirts, please email your quilter and let her know that you are sending in your T-shirts and understand that your quilt will be completed after the first of the year.

It can help!. Please note that sizes can be in between standard sizes. All quilt sizes are divisible by 4. The cost of a non-standard size will be calculated for you based on our underlying formulas.
How Many T-shirts

It's hard to say! It all depends on your specific T-shirts. The list here is only an approximation of the number of T-shirts, sweatshirts or other clothing items it may take to make a quilt of that size. You may need more T-shirts if the designs on your T-shirts are small. Or you may need fewer if the designs on your T-shirts are big.
