Meridian Hills Cooperative Nursery School & Kindergarten is a nonprofit, cooperative school where teachers and parents work together to help our children grow and thrive emotionally, socially, intellectually and physically. As a nonprofit organization, we rely on the commitment and generosity of our past, present and future families.
At Meridian Hills Cooperative, we strive to be reactors to children, not judges of children. We value the uniqueness of each child. Our purpose is to create an environment where children can grow according to their individual timetables, where each child is encouraged to learn through thoughtful interaction with materials and with each other, and where children build and construct knowledge as a result of this interaction.

About Us
Report
Picture tricycles careening down the hill with their drivers learning freedom as well as physical control. Listen to the conversation as children pour water from one container to another, over and over, checking out the changes in the water flow as they introduce obstacles to redirect the water. Observe the caring, focused attention as a teacher guides the children through these experiences.
Our Playground
Report
Thanks to a partnership with First Congregational Church UCC, becoming a Nature Explore Classroom was a natural fit for our half-acre, shaded playground. The new Directors' Garden is situated between the school entrance and the welcome entry to the playground. In the 50-plus-year history of the school, there have only been three people to serve as directors.
Staff
Report
Under the guidance of our highly educated staff, our children learn about their world through the power of play. Whether it is on a field trip to an orchard, at school playing dress-up, riding big wheels with a friend on our playground, or simply enjoying listening to a teacher read a story, each child learns and grows through play.
Mrs. Foley
Report
Mrs. Linda Foley, our assistant director since 2013, teaches our 3s (Chickadees) and 4s (Robins). She began her time at Meridian Hills Cooperative as a student. It was such a memorable experience that she later became a student teacher, brought her own children to the school, and has been one of our teachers since 2000.
