Born and raised in Southeastern, MA, Jay has been in the beer industry for 11 years (and drinking beer for longer!) Although Jay will tell you he's not a fan of being in the spotlight, having two Gold Medal-winning beers from the Virginia Beer Cup under his belt is proof of his talent and passion for brewing.
His favorite beer style is anything dry, crisp, and hoppy. It's impossible to summarize everything Julie does for the company, but we'll do our best! Chances are, if it has to do with the beer, brand, or taproom, Julie has had her hand in it. Originally from San Jose, California, Julie has spent the last 35 years calling Virginia home.

At Old Bust Head Brewing Company, we brew a wide variety of ales and lagers from Pilsners to Porters and beyond with a light heart and a serious attention to detail. Our beers are usually named for something tied to our local community - like our DIPA's named for Gold Cup winning race horses at Fauquier's famous steeplechase-so when you check out what goes into making our delicious brews you can also read some of the stories behind the names.

An appreciation for the environment, both local and global, drives our commitment to sustainability. It begins with a connection to the the trails, farms, and historic villages that surround us and translates into a sense of responsibility for the health of our planet. We've just installed a 100KpW solar array that will generate enough electricity to power 40% of our brewing operations.

Old Bust Head Brewing Company is an independent, solar-powered microbrewery in beautiful Fauquier County, VA west of DC. Our experience brewing traditional ales & lagers has helped us win awards in styles classic and creative. With beautiful views of slate roofed barns and refurbished campus-like brick buildings, Old Bust Head is part of a unique farm called 'Vint Hill' that for 50 years operated as a top secret military listening post.
