Swiftsure Ranch Therapeutic

Sitting on 191 acres at the base of the Sawtooth Mountain Range, Swiftsure Ranch Therapeutic Equestrian Center is a nonprofit 501(c)3 with a special goal of encouraging the physical, mental and emotional well-being of children and adults with all types of challenges through equine-assisted activities and therapies.

Each of Swiftsure Ranch's therapy horses are selected, trained and cared for according to criteria developed in combination with industry standards and requirements specific to our program, activities and clientele. Hailing from all backgrounds, our horses are versatile and varied, allowing Swiftsure Ranch to accommodate our variety of participants.

Located just south of Bellevue, Idaho, the Swiftsure Ranch consists of 191 acres. It is joined on the west to BLM lands, boasting breathtaking mountain and water views. Among the many features of this beautiful ranch is the control of one mile of the Big Wood River as well as crops of grass hay and irrigated pastures which will allow Swiftsure to produce their own feed.

All Swiftsure equestrian programs fall under the Therapeutic Riding discipline. Individuals participate in weekly riding sessions focused on learning horsemanship skills which promote independence, build strength and coordination, improve cognitive processing and foster social skills. Participants build skills and work toward practical goals such as going on a trail ride, competing in a horse show, learning to jump or learning to herd cows.

The goal of Swiftsure Ranch Therapeutic Equestrian Center is to empower those we serve through equine partnerships and ranch experiences. We are a nonprofit organization that offers equine assisted activities to individuals with physical, emotional, social or cognitive diagnoses or challenges at no charge to the participant or their families.
