Since the 1930s, vocational education has been offered to the citizens of Louisiana through a system of post-secondary technical education, which also provides technical training to secondary high school students. In 1973, the legislature passed Acts 208 and 209. Act 208 provided for the reorganization of the state trade schools and increased their number from 33 to 53.

Central Louisiana Technical Community College (CLTCC) is a comprehensive public two-year community college that provides academic, occupational and specialized training leading to industry-based certifications, technical certificates, technical diplomas, and associate degrees.

Accreditation

Central Louisiana Technical Community College is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of the Council on Occupational Education (COE). The main campus and each branch campus within CLTCC is currently accredited by COE, respectively, and will be included in the regional accreditation process. This accreditation means that, nationwide, CLTCC will be recognized as meeting standards of training acceptable for accreditation.

We've been training the workforce of Central Louisiana since the 1930s, as a vo-tech, trade school, technical college, and now a technical and community college. Today, over 75 years later, we have become a comprehensive, two-year college with more than 25 academic and career training programs. Our programs are designed to prepare students to go directly into the workforce or transfer to a four-year university.
