Simply place your online order, wait for the email that your order is ready, and a friendly bookseller will deposit it safely in your vehicle, contact-free. We can also ship your books.

Parnassus Books is the independent bookstore for independent people located in Nashville, Tennessee. Our shop has been co-owned by novelist Ann Patchett and her business partner, Karen Hayes, since it opened in 2011. What's with the name? In Greek mythology, Mount Parnassus was the home of literature, learning, and music.

Our independent bookstore is a small business, and that means everyone has a job to do -- even the four-legged members of our staff. Don't be alarmed if you're greeted at the door by one of our small, furry, friendly associates. Just make sure the door closes behind you, if you don't mind. The parking lot is no place for a shop dog!
