In 2011, Ettie Zaklos, a mom of four and experienced educator set out in search of a stellar early childhood center for her children. A school that would offer its students the tools to successfully navigate a rapidly changing world. When her search proved unsuccessful, she committed to start a school that would reflect this exact vision.

And so, Preschool of the Arts was born. In the first year of its inception, the preschool enrolled two students: Ettie's own young daughters. Soon, others joined, excited about the vision of a progressive, holistic early childhood experience for their own children. The school developed its own in-house curriculum that seamlessly weaves together the acquisition of social, emotional, and academic skills.

Testimonials
Report
My youngest child has attended POTA since age 2 and is now in PreK, and our family has had a wonderful experience each year. At POTA, every adult exudes love for every child, even if they don't directly teach your child. There is a huge emphasis on kindness, on treating all friends with care, and on learning mindfulness and ways of regulating your sometimes big emotions.
Educational Approach
Report
Preschool of the Arts' educational approach is heavily influenced by Reggio-Emilia theory. This approach views children as competent, resourceful, curious, imaginative, and inventive, who possess a desire to interact and communicate with others. The Reggio vision of the child as a competent learner has produced a strong child-directed curriculum model.

The classroom set up is comprised of learning centers which include blocks, art, dramatic play, books, manipulatives, and scientific discovery. These centers allow the children to have choices in their learning and play and to actively explore.
