Ideal Aviation is a full service aircraft rental, flight training, fractional aircraft ownership, and aircraft maintenance & avionics facility serving both present and future pilots at St. Louis Downtown Airport (KCPS), just minutes from the Gateway Arch. Our facility spans 3 hangars, and we have over 20 CFIs on staff to meet all your training needs.
Our growing fleet currently includes ten aircraft (fixed wing single and multi-engine, and rotary), and we also have FAA Certified flight simulators for those rainy days! I began my flight training when I acquired Ideal Aviation in 2011, and I have since earned my private, instrument, and multi-engine ratings.

Bill Macon, Ideal Aviation's Managing Partner, has a background in manufacturing, but he comes from a family with a long history of aviation in St. Louis. Lessons & Rentals

Ideal Aviation offers the broadest array of flight training options in the St. Louis area. Our fixed wing program includes technically advance aircraft, both single and multi-engine, featuring Garmin 1000 avionics, and we also fly Cessna 172s with the traditional six pack. We provide rotary wing training, too, in the modern Guimbal Cabri G2, a European helicopter designed specifically for training.

Most of our primary training is done in the Cessna 172, a reliable time-tested workhorse for any flight school. For instrument and commercial ratings, we recommend one of our all-glass G1000 aircraft. And our multi-engine trainer is the renowned Piper Seminole! Our instructors follow a Jeppesen-based syllabus, including a combination of ground and in-flight lessons, with periodic stage checks to ensure you are on track.
