Ohman School of Ballet: Cultivating Dance Excellence in Commack
Ohman School of Ballet was founded by Frank Ohman, a former Soloist with New York City Ballet, to provide rigorous classical ballet training rooted in the traditions of George Balanchine. Our mission is to nurture young dancers through a comprehensive curriculum that includes pre-professional programming, master classes with industry leaders, and multiple performance opportunities. We emphasize technical precision, artistic expression, and holistic development, integrating injury prevention and mental health education into our training. Under the artistic direction of Nicole Loizides, our team of accomplished instructors educates students of all skill levels, from beginners to advanced dancers. We serve Nassau and Suffolk Counties and the greater Long Island area, offering accessible training that prepares students for careers in dance or lifelong appreciation of the art form. Our annual Nutcracker performance showcases student talent alongside guest artists from leading companies, while community initiatives like the Gold Coast Dance Festival and Dance for Peace program reflect our commitment to public engagement. We maintain a non-discriminatory policy, fostering an inclusive environment that values diversity and mutual respect. Our partnership with New York Dance Theatre expands educational opportunities through lectures, training, and performances. With decades of combined experience, our faculty combines professional expertise with compassionate teaching, ensuring students receive both technical mastery and personal growth. We provide flexible registration through Zen Planner software and offer trial classes to introduce prospective students to our world-class program.

Truly a gem of a school. My daughter danced here and recieved a world class education in dance. It is primarily a ballet school but they do offer other styles. The founder was a soloist with the NYC Ballet under Balanchine. It doesn't get better then that. Instructors are incredibly experienced and knowledgeable. The school is non competetive but they put one of the greatest Nutcrackers on Long Island. The principal dancers have come from the NYCBallet and Harlem Dance Theatre whose founder also danced with Mr. Ohman. Its a nuturing environment where they work with your child's pace.
