Learn to fly with Western North Carolina's only SEVIS approved FAA Certified Part 141 Flight School! We offer Private Pilot, Instrument, Commercial, Multi-Engine, CFI, CFII, MEI and Airline Transport Pilot training and we are VA approved. We serve local area pilots, students and professional airline students from around the world.

We are also approved for the R-ATP with the degree program through A-B Tech. You can view our R-ATP LOA here. We are conveniently located at the Asheville Regional Airport in the remodeled Lacy Griffin Aviation Center. Our newest course addition is our degree program with A-B Tech. Upon completion, you will be eligible for the R-ATP in 1250 hours (250 less than the traditional ATP) and be guaranteed interviews with our hiring partners.

The core focus of River Rock is within the aviation industry. In addition to our flight training expertise, we have experience in FBO operations, aircraft sales and aircraft maintenance.

To us, the Appalachians are home. They are a beautiful display of nature and provide natural landmarks and beautiful scenery that adds to the depth of our pilots' ability. But to many, they are daggers in the sky, obstacles that should be avoided at all cost, dangerous and unapproachable. Flatlanders often avoid our mountains because they simply do not know how to fly in them.

However, this is not the norm and is only accomplished by those that can train very frequently and those that arrive for each of their flight lessons with all of their "homework" complete. All of our courses can be accelerated to reasonably meet your needs. Our full time flight instructors are available 7 days a week to help you accomplish your goals. Students have earned their Private Pilot Certificate in as little as 35 hours of flight time under our 14 CFR 141 program. However, this is rare.
