Less Than Truckload

Less than truckload, or LTL, refers to shipping freight that will fit inside of a truck but doesn't take up the entire truckload. This means it will likely be combined with other shipments to make the best use of the truck's interior storage (and thus reduce gas costs for all customers). Traditionally, LTL shipping will handle small freight larger than what would be shipped using a parcel carrier.

Truck shipping is often broken down into a full truckload and less than truckload. While a less than truckload is a shipment that takes up just part of a full truck, the full truckload is an entire shipping truck. This is the best option when you have a large freight amount you need to transit to other destinations.
