Community Nursery School (CNS) is a cooperative preschool located in Guilford, CT. The school is uniquely located on a scenic, wooded lot with nature trails, an outdoor classroom and two amazing outdoor play areas. It is our philosophy to provide a nurturing environment that promotes the emotional, social, educational and physical needs of each child.

Alongside our committed staff, parents contribute by playing an active role in the early education of their children. Additional programming and summer sessions are also available. Please contact us to arrange a tour of our facilities and to talk more about our cooperative philosophy and play-based learning environment.

The toddler with care-giver program introduces the concept of a school setting to our youngest children. It is open to children eighteen months to under three years old. This program features both teacher-led activities and unstructured playtime that gives children a chance to create, explore, and learn while building their confidence and independence.
Mrs. Carubia Tribute

Community Nursery School is privileged to honor, Valerie Carubia, as she begins her retirement after 31 years of dedication and service to our beloved preschool. Mrs. Carubia was often a child's first teacher. This incredible first step for a child became a significant milestone in their love of learning.
Annual Little Folks Fair

The Annual Community Nursery School Little Folks Fair happens the first Saturday in June from 11 AM - 4 PM! Since 1956 Community Nursery School has hosted the fair on the historic Guilford Green. The fair transforms the Green into a playground for children and families, creating memories that will last a lifetime.

As a cooperative nursery school, parent / caregiver involvement is important to the success of our children and the school! Parents or care-givers have the opportunity to participate in the classroom approximately once per month (see buy-out option below), attend one work party, and volunteer for The Little Folks Fair the first Saturday in June.
