Handcrafted Stoneware Pottery in Bozeman, MT
Mountain Arts Pottery has been crafting vibrant stoneware pottery in the Yellowstone region since 1980. Founded by David and Jennie Lockie, our business began as a backyard enterprise and has grown into a beloved Bozeman, Montana institution. Every piece of our handmade pottery is created with meticulous attention to detail, combining functionality with artistic design. Our stoneware is microwave and dishwasher safe, featuring 100% lead-free glazes that ensure both safety and durability. Over four decades, we've perfected our craft through a two-fire process that transforms high-fire stoneware clay into enduring works of art. In 2017, we passed the torch to our son Josh and daughter-in-law Kathy while maintaining our commitment to quality. Our log cabin retail space now shares a home with The Coffee Pot Bakery Caf, creating a unique destination for visitors. We specialize in hand-thrown functional pottery including plates, mugs, kitchenware, and wedding platters that blend beauty with hearty functionality. Our patented laser-guided throwing process ensures consistency while preserving the individual character of each piece. Today, we continue to innovate while honoring the traditions that have made us a trusted name in Montana pottery since the Reagan administration.

I absolutely love this pottery shop and cafe. The folks that own this shop, and those that work here are always friendly and kind. I live 3 hours away and eagerly anticipate my next visit to pick out new pieces to add to my growing pottery collection. The pieces are beautiful, practical, and durable. This turquoise mug is my latest obsession and I've been drinking copious amounts of tea and Chai since I picked it out. The coffee here is great, and the pie is homemade and delicious. Stop in and find a beautiful handmade gift for one of your friends or family members, or take a fresh baked item to

We outfitted our B&B with Mountain Arts Pottery a few years ago (coffee mugs, plates, pitchers, salt & pepper shakers, etc. Could not be more pleased with the craftmanship. The glaze has held up through a commercial washer for 3 years and still looks great! Guests always comment on how beautiful our place setting is. We will definitely be placing a larger order in the future.
