Milward Farrell Fine Art is one of the most unique Galleries in the Midwest. Located in Madison WI, it is owned and operated by Gary Milward and Brian Farrell. A combination of over 45 years experience between them with backgrounds in Interior Design, Art History, Art Education, Art Framing, Business Management, and Consultation make these two a winning combination.
Both native Madisonians, they are dedicated to their large, local customer base, as well as the customers they have aquired from coast to coast. Milward Farrell Fine Art came into being as an extension of our original store, Gary's Art & Frame, which features art and award winning framing.

MORE HISTORY: Many people ask about the history of when and where these posters were printed. In 1967 The Beatles company "Nems" contracted Richard Avedon to create the design and then gave the distribution rights to different outlets in different countries.
The Publications that would handle the distribution were: in the USA "LOOK" magazine where you could order your set with a pullout tab, and send away for your set to come in the mail for $1.50.In England it was the Daily Express Newspaper that handled distribution. In Europe it was "Stern" magazine that distributed the posters and they were sold at Newsstands in special presentation boxes.

Most of my paintings are of modest size because I paint wherever I go, and am rarely without painting supplies. I carry them on foot, in a canoe, on my bike, on subways, in airplanes, on trains, buses, cars, trucks, golf carts, boats, and ships. Motorcycle might be next, and horseback even sounds good!

I work with wood because of its inherent beauty; the flow of its grain; soft, subtle colors; its generally forgiving nature. When I can create an abstract sculpture that respects and reflects this inherent beauty, it's a gift, and sometimes a great surprise. While I try to focus my abstract sculpture on gracefulness, calm and peace.

Growing up in a creative family in Brooklyn, New York was the perfect environment for Jim Walsh who paints as James Charles. My family enjoys the arts and encouraged me to follow my passion for drawing and painting. Not every child gets that opportunity. As a painter I am drawn to the random patterns and colors that I see and feel in our natural surroundings.

When an artist is truly talented, you look at the training and academic background, you look at their collector lists. You study their style to see who may have influenced them. When you study art you start with drawing, you cannot proceed with any area of art until you master the skill of drawing, and any master living or deceased could draw.
