Fondly known for unforgettable holes such as the picturesque par-5 9th hole and the challenging par-4 6th hole, Brunswick is wonderfully maintained with tree-lined fairways and immaculate greens. One of the founding clubs of the Maine State Golf Association in 1917, BGC offers four sets of tees for golfers of all skill levels as well as a full dining and banquet facility for events of all types and sizes.

Bowdoin College students J.H. Henry and Benjamin L. Furbish acquired golf clubs and attire and headed down what was then known as the Freeport Road in Brunswick in search of a field in which to play. Henry and Furbish were joined by college professor Harry C. Emery who had recently developed an interest in the game.

A wide open tee shot invites a driver off this straight-a-way par 4. A decent drive that avoids the pond short left and the fescue rough on the right will leave a mid to short iron onto the largest green on the golf course. The green does slope significantly from back-to-front, so keep your approach below the hole to enjoy a chance at a great opening birdie!
