The Total Guitar offers private music lessons in guitar, bass, ukulele, music theory and improvisation to students of all ages for enrichment through music. Located in the Indianapolis area and for well over 40 years, Brian Johns of The Total Guitar has been providing quality and nurturing music instruction to beginning, intermediate and advanced students.

Schedule Lessons
Report
Lessons are scheduled by appointment and generally follow a weekly plan. The hours of available time slots are between 2:00 PM until 8:30 PM, Monday through Thursday and 9:00 AM until 3:00 PM, Saturday. The typical lesson is 30 minutes in length but 45 minute and 60 minute lessons are occasionally available as well.
Improvisation and Theory

These lessons are designed to provide more playing time for students within a focused environment that's both practical and fun; providing real - time feedback and suggestions. Lessons are available to players of "rhythm section" instruments - piano, guitar and bass - but other instruments are welcome as well because it's all music.

Here are a few concepts regarding general practical guitar care. There are also a number of other web sites totally dedicated to this subject in terms of both care and maintenance. 1. Guitars are handled and so, they will accumulate fingerprints and associated crud. When this becomes bothersome, simply give your instrument a wipe.
Who Takes Lessons

Typically, I won't start kids much younger than 6 years of age due to several factors. One factor, notably, is the size and physicality issue. We need to have the size of the guitar match the size of the child. The strings have to be easy to press down otherwise all we've achieved is instant frustration.
