Hampton Roads Vineyard & Winery is situated in the beautiful rural area of Elberon, Virginia, just south of Surry and across the James River from Jamestown. Located at White Oak Farm where Harry Spratley first raised horses in 1898 for the New York City carriage trade, it is now where grapes are grown, wines are made, Red Angus cattle are raised, and is home to the World's Tallest Goat Tower.

White Oak Farm is the home of Hampton Roads Winery and White Oak Stock Farm where red Angus cattle are raised. Beef cuts may be purchased at the Winery, as well ordering on-line for delivery at the many farmers markets we attend.

Our Story
Report
Get us talking about the creation of Hampton Roads Winery and you will need a glass of wine ( a full bottle if you are hearing the long version!) Back about 16 years ago, Diane and I were discussing our life once we retired. We talked about all the typical things, but in the end it came down to 2 choices: either sail around the world for the rest of our lives, or set up a vineyard-winery.
Our Wines & Tasting Room

We can accomondate small groups of 10 or less and still maintain distancing guidelines both inside and out. With ample seating, multiple rooms, and an outside patio ( weather permitting ), you can still get away, enjoy our wines by the glass or the pitcher, relax with friends, and of course say hi to the goats.
Wine Club

HRV Blog
Report
We started our blog years ago when we only had a vineyard. Since then, it has talked about our many challenges and successes, our anticipation for the coming year and the harvests that finished the season. Now that we have an established winery and a farm, it has expanded to include our experiences in the new tasting room, as well as our many animals.
