Every Saturday, we offer 30 minute tours where you will learn about Hairy Cow Brewing Company, see our brewing process, and sample different beers. We run tours hourly starting at 1:00 P.M., with our last tour starting at 5:00 P.M. Tours are $10 per person and include a complimentary glass. At Hairy Cow Brewing Company, Ogle County's very first brewpub, we strive to make the best craft beer possible.

Todd McLester is our salty founder. After 25 years of protecting the fine citizens of Rockford, Illinois in a variety of positions with the Rockford Police Department, Todd decided to take it easy and build a little brewpub in Byron. The brewpub is fondly named after Todd's Scottish Highland Cattle.

The partners settled on the name Hairy Cow in honor of the Scottish Highland cattle Todd raised on his property just outside Byron, Illinois. These adorable creatures formed the inspiration for the brewery and several of the beer names. For example, Denmar is the herd bull, and a perfect choice for the name of the seasonal Oktoberfest brew.

Our Dough - Our pizza crust dough is made fresh daily, in-house, using the finest flour, yeast, water, Hairy Cow Pale Ale, and then aged for at least 24 hours. Like craft beer and fine wine, time is needed to allow the yeast and beer to combine with the grains, resulting in our unique dough texture and flavor.
