Becker Architects began in New York City in 1982, designing corporate build-outs, medical offices and residential renovations of apartments and townhouses, primarily in Manhattan. Since our relocation to the Chicago area in 1989, we have designed hundreds of commercial and residential projects, from new construction to rehabilitation and additions.
We have a very diverse clientele ranging from homeowners to business owners to tenants to facility managers. Our rehabs, additions and new construction are primarily in the Chicago metropolitan area though we work in other parts of the US as well.

This project entailed gutting and rehabbing 6,800 square feet of penthouse area with all-glass exposures facing private terraces in all four cardinal directions. Project includes new finishes, cabinetry, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, low voltage wiring and controls throughout. This apartment is currently on the market.

Becker Architects has rebranded seven of the Chicago area HomeMade Pizza stores : Highland Park, Winnetka, Glencoe, Lake Forest, North Evanston, South Evanston and Hinsdale. The Highland Park store, shown here, was a new buildout, formerly a clothing store. Perfection Machinery Sales is a used machinery dealer headquartered in Elk Grove Village, Illinois founded in 1963.

Berman Infiniti of Chicago repurposed a 1940's manufacturing facility into a new dealership, service area, and showroom. The dealership encompasses 18,000 square feet and features frameless interior glass walls throughout. The richly appointed bright interior includes private office and conferencing suites, a showroom containing eight car displays, and a customer reception lounge.

Richard Becker AIA, LEED AP BD+C Prior work experience includes Skidmore Owings and Merrill (NYC). He and wife Nancy established Becker Architects in New York in 1982. Richard is a third generation architect raised in Bethesda, Maryland and attended Syracuse University B.Arch. 1979.
Past public service includes Highland Park Historic Preservation Commission (1994-2000), Highland Park Zoning Board of Appeals (2000-2008), Oversight for School District 113 (2014-2017) and currently a citizen advisor to North Shore School District 112 for proposed improvements at Northwood and Edgewood Middle Schools.Richard is involved in pro-Israel advocacy serving on several boards including CAMERA and StandWithUs.
