FUMPS is licensed by the State of California Department of Social Services. We are affiliated with the Southern California chapter of the Association for the Education of Young Children and with the Southern California Church Related Preschool Fellowship. Recognizing the vital importance of early childhood in the basic character formation, First United Methodist Preschool was established in 1947.
Its purpose was to provide the preschool child the opportunity for his own social, emotional, spiritual and developmental growth in a carefully planned program with a nurturing, Christian environment. It was and continues to be an integral part of the educational program of our church.

Program
Report
Our school year runs Mid-August through May, is generally the same as the Riverside Unified School District, observing the same holidays. This fee is collected and is applied toward programming. The preschool is a non-profit organization, supported entirely by parent-paid tuition. There are no refunds for absences.
Staff
Report
Our school is staffed by persons who are well educated and qualified in the field of early childhood education. They understand and appreciate child development and recognize and provide for children's needs and interests. It is the intention and purpose of the entire staff to foster and appreciate the individual child's natural curiosity, creativity and ability.
Scholarship Fund

Each spring the First United Methodist Church Preschool has sponsored a Scholarship Fund Drive. This past autumn, Preschool Board Member, Lynn Ashworth, told us that after many years of service to the Preschool as an Assistant Teacher and sitting on the Preschool board, she felt that it was time to step down.
