Dr. Jay Joshi
Report
At National Pain Centers, we combine the highest quality of care standards with established and innovative treatments. Ever wonder what that looks like behind the scenes? Here is a glimpse. Central Sensitization
Report
Before we begin the discussion about ketamine infusions, the underlying condition that causes many of the painful conditions that are treated with ketamine infusions has to be understood. The Ketamine Infusion Center for Pain (KIC Pain) at the National Pain Centers is one of the largest and most experienced ketamine infusion centers in America.
Routes of Administration
Report
Route of Administration (ROA) refers to the method in which a medication is introduced to the body. The intravenous (IV) infusion is the most common, the most studied, and probably the safest method of administering ketamine. Obviously, IV is the ROA for ketamine infusions. The ROA, in addition to pharmacokinetics, is incredibly important for all medications when discussing both safety and efficacy.
Ketamine Infusion Cost
Report
We see patients from all over the country routinely for ketamine infusions. Two of the initial questions we receive are "how much does it cost" and "is it covered by insurance". Some insurance companies do cover ketamine infusions and they have specific billing codes for ketamine infusions. Their reimbursement rates are typically not very high and that is probably one of the reasons why ketamine infusions are not done more frequently.
