Fairwind Yacht Club is a non-profit, all volunteer, civic-minded organization with a mission to provide low-cost access to the sport of sailing. In Marina del Rey and Channel Islands Harbor, our Club owns a fleet of sailboats that are available to our members by reservation. Fairwind is an affiliate of the American Sailing Association.

We like applicants to our Club to have sailing experience, then we provide intermediate and advanced sailing education to our members included in their membership dues to make everyone better and safer sailors. Fairwind offers free sailing to anyone interested every Tuesday and the second Saturday of each month in Marina del Rey and the third Sunday of each month in Channel Islands Harbor.

Fairwind Yacht Club, an all volunteer sailing cooperative in Marina del Rey and Channel Islands Harbor, is the ideal way for boating enthusiasts to have year-round access to sailboats without the high costs of ownership. Membership openings ebb and flow throughout the year. Fill out our membership application and mail it with an undated check in to be considered.

Members who are American Sailing Association certified instructors contribute their time to train and then to check-out new members as Skippers. The Club emphasizes safety in all boat activities. All you need to do is learn to operate our day-sailers, be checked out, and you're a qualified Skipper.

Strength In Numbers: Fairwind Yacht Club is affiliated with associations that represent the local and national interests of our club and our members. American Sailing Association is the leading authority on sailing instruction in the United States. Through ASA certified instructors, Fairwind Yacht Club helps members learn sailing safely and with confidence.

Cruise

Whether you're an experienced cruiser or a first time sailor, there's room on a Fairwind Cruise for you. For information on future events, please look at the schedules in the left and right hand sidebars or view our club calendar. The Cruise Chair for MdR or CIH will send out global email announcements about one month prior to the event or cruise.

Racing

Fairwind Yacht Club has an active group of racers both in Marina del Rey and in Channel Islands Harbor that participates regularly in local sail races. Some members race on Fairwind boats, some crew for skippers that are members of other yacht clubs. In 2017, the club boats in Channel Islands were raced in the Wet Wednesday series, organized by the Anacapa Yacht Club.
