Whitewater Equestrian Center is the home of beautiful Western North Carolina guided trail rides and gem mining. We are located in a natural North American rain forest, one of only two; the other being on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington State.
We take you out into the wilderness, on a guided informative horse trail ride where you will learn of the deep-rooted local Native American history, plants they used for headaches and stomach ache medicines as well as snakebite medicine.During the trail ride, you will experience reaching the peaks of 3 mountains, which offers stunning 360-degree views on clear days.

For over 150 years, the Hinkle family has protected this 375-acre plot of wilderness mountain land, filled with spectacular views and abundant wildlife. The historic Cherokee Footpath, just one of the trails on which you will ride, is known to be trod by Daniel Boone. Any time of year is the right time to visit.
Come ride on one of Kayren Hinkle's exceptional horses. Through the North American Rain Forest, you will learn about local Native American history and the lakes, falls and woods they called home. The Historic Cherokee Footpath is just one of the trails you will experience on horseback. During the ride, you will also learn some of the fauna, horticulture and plants and natural remedies derived from these plants.

All reservations must be made via phone call to 828-966-9646. You must arrive 15 minutes prior to your scheduled ride time. If you are 15 minutes or more late for your ride, you must reschedule your ride time. There are no exceptions! We work on a tight schedule, so please be courteous of other riders.

Follow the road till you see the bright orange truck with metal horses on the back at the top of our driveway! Come on down to the office to check in and complete your paperwork! From South Carolina: Take (Scenic) Highway 11 (this is exit 1 if you're on I-85 from Georgia) to Hwy 130 North, Hwy 130 will magically turn into NC281 when you cross the SC/NC line.
