Food City was born from the El Paso community, to serve the El Paso community. Our tale began over fifty years ago in 1964, when Jose Santos opened his first store, El Rancho Mart, on South Stanton Street. He soon outgrew that store and opened our flagship store, Food City, on Alameda Avenue. At first, Food City shared this location with the Aaronson Brothers department store called "Big Star."
