
Pat Ripp, owner of Point Aviation started his aviation maintenance career with the US Air Force in 1970. Serving as a tactical weapons systems technician, including two tours in the Vietnam theatre, he worked with electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and structural systems that supported weapons carriage and release, gunnery and missile firing systems on numerous aircraft, including the F-4 Phantom, F-100, F-105, A-7, OV-10 and many others.
Thru the late 1970's and 1980's Pat pursued his love of photography before returning to aviation in 1991. He worked as Maintenance Director for Wings USA in Janesville maintaining a training fleet of as many as 11 aircraft before accepting a position as an Aviation Maintenance Technician Instructor at Blackhawk Technical College in 1997.

Point Aviation provides a wide range of aircraft maintenance services for general aviation aircraft at our facility at the Iowa County Airport (KMRJ). Most aircraft models are supported including Cessna, Piper, Beechcraft, Mooney and Grumman. Routine and as needed aircraft maintenance, repairs and modifications, electrical system troubleshooting and repair and limited avionics installations are available.

Point Aviation can overhaul your Continental/TCM/CMI Starter Adapter to like new condition. Once your Adapter is disassembled and inspected for condition and damage, the housing components are cleaned and Dye Penetrant inspected. The Main Shaft and Brass Wheel are resized as needed, Starter Shaft, Worm Gear and other steel parts inspected and certified.

The S1200 Series, such as the S6RN-1225 are generally considered the "Cadillac" of magnetos. They have large coils and distributors and work extremely well at higher altitudes without the hassle of pressurization. The S20 and S200 Series, such as the S4RN-21, S6RSC-25 or S4LN-204 are the most common models.
