When the 24 bones or vertebrae that protect the spinal cord lose their normal position or motion, this is known as vertebral joint restriction/misalignment/subluxations. Chiropractic adjustments are performed to move these vertebrae back into position. Chiropractic adjustments could be compared to braces on the teeth, as when braces are placed on the teeth they slowly move the teeth to straight.
