Duckworks Aviation was started in 1992 by Don & Janet Wentz. As Don was finishing the wings for his RV-6 he developed a Landing Light kit that addressed some issues with kits that were available then. When Van's asked if we wanted to add it to their Accessory Catalog, we agreed and sales really took off.

First, you need a good, clean, adjustable installation, that is cost effective and puts the light where you want it. As with many certificated aircraft, we use a wing cutout that limits the light to forward and down output, not allowing the light to shine 'up' where it can interfere with the pilot's peripheral vision in dark, hazy, or misty conditions.

The aluminum wing of the Sportsman (and Glastar) has been begging for a Duckworks light for a long time - now we have some. There were some challenges due to the small area in the leading edge, but thanks to the inputs of several builders we were able to finalize on a great solution. Installation is straight forward and results in a great looking, lightweight, adjustable Landing Light, with great flexibility in available lamps.

Duckworks Aviation is proud to supply upgrades to the standard Zenith sealed beam 4509 lights. These can improve lighting, reduce operational recurring costs and improve bulb life. From round PAR-36 enclosures that allow you to use the Halogen lamp of your choice (55W or 100W), to the extremely bright yet low power draw 50W HID, these options will definitely improve your lighting capabilities.

One 'option' is to offer a low cost HID Replacement Lamp for the MR-16 Wingtip installations. This is the first LED we have tested that could put light on trees at over 1000 feet away! Note - this is an installation kit with Mount and Lamp. Most builders will have some resin/epoxy and cloth on hand - IF NOT, we have listed a Materials Kit for you.
