Stroll down historic Main Street toward Chatham Light and visit Where the Sidewalk Ends Bookstore, a mother-daughter-owned bookstore in a welcoming, two-story "antique" barn with an attached Children's Annex full of educational books and imagination-enriching toys for young children. Comfortable fireside and outdoor seating provide relaxing places for browsing, sipping coffee, and enjoying a friendly ambiance.
A full children's section complements summer Story Time days. We host a variety of events, including book signings, and Literary Luncheons with authors at the Wequassett Resort. Enjoy yarn, cards, toys, games, and unique gifts. Special orders welcomed by our friendly staff! Plus our warehouse can even ship directly to your home - just give us a call or an email!

Appointment Shopping
Report
We are offering socially-distanced appointments for those who feel more comfortable alone in the bookstore for the time being. We understand. We love our community and want everyone to be and feel safe. If your threshold is currently at "I only want Porch Pick-Up" we will get your books to you that way.
Shopping Local
Report
Save Indie Bookstores has a wonderful chart breaking down the specifics of the finances behind independent bookstores - visit this link to learn about our industry! Shopping in a local business district means less infrastructure, less maintenance, and more money to beautify your community. Now is the time to stand up and join your fellow individuals in the IndieBound mission supporting local businesses and celebrating independents.
Children's Annex
Report
The summer of 2010 brought an amazing opportunity to our doorstep: the business across the deck was closing, and the space was available. It was a way for us to expand across the beautiful covered deck and create a space especially for the youngest of readers. The Children's Annex has a carefully curated selection of quality children's books, fresh bright colors, interesting displays, and educational toys.
Cape and Islands Bookstore Trail
Report
Please note this program is still in flux for Summer 2020, when we have a sense of when our communities are healthy enough for "normal" again. In the meantime, do take a look at our WONDERFUL list of indie bookstores on Cape Cod - who knew there were so many? - and consider taking a road trip to visit all of us when these types of activities are possible again.
