In 1991, Dr. Mohandas graduated from the University of Madras Medical College located in her hometown of Chennai, India. She completed her residency at North Shore University Hospital in New York in 1996, and specialized in Family Medicine at John Peter Smith Hospital in Dallas, Texas in 2003.

The following year, she received her certification from the American Board of Family Medicine establishing her as a board certified Family Medicine Physician.While opening and operating her own Family Practice in the Monterey Peninsula, she decided to continue her medical education in Advanced Medical Aesthetics.
