Located just 20 miles east of Lexington, KY, our shop is located in Historic Downtown Winchester in our developing Arts District.

About Us

Created by Carvel & Ashley Norman, Dirty South Pottery is a husband-and-wife owned and operated pottery studio located in the historic downtown of Winchester, KY (about 20 miles east of Lexington). Our studio is located in a 1908 building on North Main Street, which we renovated into a dynamic studio, store front and class room facility - opened in 2015.

From mixing up glaze, to running the store & making pottery, Carvel is the face that you'll most likely see when you come and shop with us. He has a Bachelors of Art degree from Brescia University, and co-founded Dirty South Pottery with his wife, Ashley, in 2012. If you love our Fireside Collection, you can thank Carvel for his creations!

Small businesses have been hustling more than ever to survive since the pandemic hit, and this is just the latest blow that will negatively affect profit margins during the busiest time of the year for retailers. Only recently have I realized & accepted that I am a very crucial part of what makes Dirty South Pottery special.

We offer consultations with one of our staff potters to all who are looking to register with us. IMPORTANT INFORMATION FROM DIRTY SOUTH POTTERY | You will not be sent the items you purchase. Once the registry is complete we will make all purchased items at one time (for consistency) and arrange a pickup with the couple. You only need to choose which items you'd like to purchase for them and we'll handle the rest!
