Dr. Wetzel received his Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree from the University of Southern California School of Dentistry and completed his residency in periodontics at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in West Los Angeles.

Committed to furthering his education, he is a member of the American Dental Association, California Dental Association, American Academy of Periodontology, California Society of Periodontist, and the Academy of Osseointegration.Abbas Doctor was born in Huntington, WV. He completed a Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Science at Marshall University and decided to follow in his father's footsteps and pursue a career in dentistry.

A periodontist is a dentist who specializes in the soft tissues of the mouth and the underlying jawbone which supports the teeth. A dentist must first graduate from an accredited dental school before undertaking an additional three years of study within a periodontology residency training program, in order to qualify as a periodontist.

Periodontal disease is diagnosed by your dentist or dental hygienist during a periodontal examination. This type of exam should always be part of your regular dental check-up. A periodontal probe (small dental instrument) is gently used to measure the sulcus (pocket or space) between the tooth and the gums.
