Our Mission & Guiding Principles
Report
Sun Valley Community School is a dynamic academic environment that prepares our preschool through twelfth grade students for a world that is forever evolving. Our students actively acquire a proven body of knowledge and develop a useful array of skills and abilities. The principles articulated here derive from our experience as educators and lifelong learners.
History
Report
Sun Valley Community School was established in 1973. The first classes were held in the basement of St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Ketchum, with 30 students, three faculty members, and four volunteers. Today, we are a pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade day and boarding school with more than 385 students in pre-kindergarten through twelfth grades and more than 100 faculty and staff.

Reimagine Your Classroom
Report
Across divisions, our students dig deep and, sometimes, travel far to immerse themselves in learning experiences that leave a lasting impact. The following are just a few of the "classrooms" Sun Valley Community School students explore. Ninth graders engage in service learning projects in Salt Lake City, during a week-long spring trip each year that offers invaluable insight into food insecurity, homelessness, and refugee concerns.
