Established in 1985, Main Street Gallery represents artists primarily from the Southeastern United States, a region fertile in folk art as well as fine art, crafts and other artful expressions. We are located in the scenic Appalachian Mountains of North Georgia, halfway between Asheville, North Carolina, and Atlanta, Georgia.
Housed in a historic downtown building on Main Street in Clayton, GA, we offer three art-filled floors of renovated space to explore. Our gallery specializes in contemporary folk art, also known as self-taught or outsider art. We also feature Southern folk pottery, fine art, and hand-crafted furniture.

While Main Street Gallery has specialized in folk art since 1985, with a strong specialty in the self-taught art of the Southeast, we have increasingly over the years shown this work in our Clayton gallery side by side with fine art, folk and studio pottery, other crafts and furniture.
Feeling today that the lines that connect our art and artists are more important than the ones that divide them, we are presenting our curated selection of all these expressions together online for the first time. Please enjoy browsing each artist's page. If you are searching for a specific type of art, you can easily filter by category.

We have some wonderful paintings by Sarah Rakes which have just come to us through a collector who has reluctantly decided to part with some of her Rakes pieces. These are oil paintings from the early 1990's. A rare opportunity that doesn't come along often! A new artist for us whose work we have included in our current pottery exhibit is Tony Raffalovich.
