Fayette St Academy

Our location is in a long established, modest, residential neighborhood in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Since 1980, classes have been held in small adobe buildings that retain an informal, nurturing, homey quality, the simplicity of which keeps our overhead low. For well over forty years, we have offered high quality, individualized education with a small student-to-teacher ratio.

Our students, ages five through twelve, are divided between a kindergarten and three multi-age classes based on levels of neurological development. The curriculum is constructed to match the different ages. Piaget was correct when he stated that children are not simply little adults. They actually perceive the world in different ways at different ages.

Any interested parent can come at one of these times. Visitors are welcome to stay as long as they wish to tour the grounds, and ask questions. We remind each visitor that because of our small size we have room for only a few new students each year. When a parent feels that FSA might work for their child, an appointment is made for a visit by the prospective student.

Fayette alumni have go on to successful years in high school and college, and lead fulfilling lives. Though they are no longer in daily attendance, they always carry a part of the spirit of Fayette with them. One reason for the creation of this website is to establish communication with our many alumni spread across the country and around the world.

FSA is not accredited. Our curriculum has evolved through carefully considering the valued input of alumni, present students and changing social patterns. Accreditation allows an outside body to dictate what is taught in the classroom. We do not seek outside validation.

In the past 39 years, FSA's many graduates have been accepted by a variety of accredited and non-accredited high schools and colleges in the United States and all around the world.Fayette students are aged five through twelve. The Kinderminis are five & six years old, and class averages 9 children.
