Summer Camp for Boys in Maine
Pine Island Camp has been nurturing independence, compassion, and resilience in boys aged 9-15 since 1902. Our six-week immersive program fosters character development through outdoor adventures, creative expression, and community living on a pristine Maine island. We emphasize self-reliance and empathy through structured activities like wilderness trips, waterfront sports, and nightly campfire traditions. Our staff - many former campers - create a supportive environment where boys build lifelong friendships and leadership skills. With a 2:1 camper-to-counselor ratio, we ensure personalized attention while maintaining a 90% return rate of returning campers. Our unique single-session model allows boys to disconnect from technology and develop authentic connections with nature and peers. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, we prioritize accessibility through tiered tuition options and scholarships. Our century-old traditions like the Kings Game and Saturday Night Shows continue to shape generations of confident, compassionate young men.

Services
Wilderness Trips
Our wilderness trips program develops leadership and survival skills through backpacking, canoeing, and mountaineering expeditions across New England. Boys learn navigation, campcraft, and environmental stewardship while challenging themselves in remote settings. The program emphasizes teamwork and personal growth through progressively complex outdoor challenges.
Waterfront Activities
Waterfront programs include swimming, sailing, kayaking, and canoeing instruction tailored to all skill levels. Certified instructors teach safety and technique while fostering confidence on the water. Our custom-built fleet accommodates beginners through advanced sailors in a structured progression system.
Campfire Programs
Nightly campfire gatherings cultivate creativity through skits, music, and storytelling. Boys develop public speaking skills and confidence through collaborative performances. Traditional programs like Saturday Night Shows allow campers to write, produce, and perform original productions.
Leadership Training
Our Leadership Training Internship Program teaches responsibility through hands-on roles in maintenance, trip leading, and activity instruction. Participants develop practical skills while learning to mentor younger campers and work effectively in teams.
Outdoor Education
Daily outdoor experiences emphasize environmental awareness and stewardship. Boys learn Leave No Trace principles through practical application in our island ecosystem. Educational components are integrated naturally into all activities and free time exploration.
