School
Report
Join us in our 50th year! Founded in 1969 by Diane Callahan, what began as one professional dancer who loves to teach supplementing her income, rapidly grew into a school of the first order, and for Miss Diane, a life-long commitment to share her passion for dance with children. The school is committed to offering a variety of dance classes taught by highly qualified, nurturing instructors.
Curriculum
Report
What joy! Two and three year-olds spend an hour bonding with a parent, or other significant adult, together exploring the fun and magic of dance. Sessions held throughout the year. The early childhood program promotes the love of dance through the joy of movement combined with music. Simple dance concepts are taught beginning with the identification of body parts, coordination skills, and movement patterns.
Recitals
Report
The annual staple of a dance school, the recital, conjures images of childhood and Americana for many. It's a rite of passage for thousands of youngsters, a chance to shine in front of family and friends that is anticipated with nervous excitement. The recital offers our students a professionally directed performance that allows them to present to their families and friends the results of a year's hard work, dedication, and progress.
Dress Code
Report
A leotard, tights and tennis shoes. Students may wear jazz pants, shorts or sweats instead of tights; however, a leotard base must be worn. The best place to buy dancewear is at a dancewear store. Many area dance apparel stores offer discounts when you mention the Gainesville School of Ballet/Gainesville Ballet Company.
