Lucciola Academy is driven by the idea that the educators, the families, and the environment each play a role in guiding the children as they unravel their discoveries. Our inspiration came from Loris Malaguzzi's Reggio Emilia approach where children are viewed as resilient and competent individuals.
The children are considered active participants in constructing their learning and building ideas at their own pace. Educators and children build a relationship based on respect and collaboration. At Lucciola Academy, learning starts in infancy. We believe in Magda Gerber's RIE approach in emphasizing respect and trust in an infant's ability to invent, explore, and learn.

We want you to know that you have the power to create your stories and lead your investigations. We encourage you to collaborate with others to discover new interests and build ideas. Open-ended materials allow children to be creative and to express themselves in different ways. These materials help widen imagination and enable endless possibilities during play.
Experiences
Report
The children discovering slugs sparked their curiosity in nature. They screamed, picked up the slugs, asked questions that helped deepen their understanding of slugs. Recognizing and sharing each other's family traditions and cultures is an integral part of our philosophy. We believe that exposing and letting children experience these moments will cultivate their cultural awareness.
