Meet The Team
Report
My career in the horseback riding adventure industry in Wyoming spans the past 40+ years, from the Teton Wilderness to the Red Desert, and millions of acres of wild Wyoming country in between. I've entered a new phase in my horsemanship journey as a solo horsemanship guide and business owner.

The future looks bright, and as I ride into it, my mission continues to be sharing my family legacy, being a supportive leader, and placing people into the path of the healing peace of our wild Wyoming landscapes, from the back of genuine, open-range saddle horses. It will be my privilege for you to join us, and I am honored that you are considering Blue Sky Sage as your horseback riding retreat experience.
The Tipi
Report
When you arrive in the main meadow at Blue Sky Sage, you will see the big tipi at the entry. It is a symbol of many things, but here it represents respect for Mother Earth and her natural rhythms, and the necessity of serenity and quiet to re-balance our hectic and demanding modern lives. It is a place to retreat for a while in solitude, to lie on the cool grass and meditate, or to gather quietly with new friends in a harmonious way.

Another feature of Blue Sky Sage that our guests have popularized over the years are the meals that our chefs serve, buffet-style in the dining lodge. The cookhouse and those who work within produce the fabulous meals that have become a tradition.

The Blue Sky Sage menu features organic grass-fed buffalo, and includes wild Alaska salmon, grilled chicken, crisp salads, fresh fruits, natural cereals and yogurt, vegetables, pasta, homemade biscuits and breads, and if you still have room, desserts made from scratch. Our chefs are all experienced with preparing a variety of specialty hors d'oeuvres to accompany our BYOB daily cocktail hour after the horses are put up from a good day's ride.
General Daily Itinerary
Report
The jagged Wind River mountains are the backdrop to this spectacular country. Framing the view for these horseback riding retreats are glacier-covered Temple Peak and Roaring Fork mountain, both at over 13,000 feet in elevation. The Continental Divide, nicknamed the "backbone of the Rockies" traverses within a quarter mile of the horse camp, and the Little Sandy river flows right through the entire location.
Faq
Report
Our saddle remuda is composed of Western-type horses. This includes ranch-type Quarter Horses, Quarter/Draft cross, ranch-type Paints, and a few mustangs. These horses are gentle, sound, intelligent and are not the stereotypical "dude horse."

They are all well-suited to the faster paced riding in rough country that our experienced riders engage in, yet quiet and gentle for the less vigorous pace appropriate for novice and intermediate skill level riders. There are no gaited horses used in this operation, as gaited horses are not commonly considered a Western-type horse.
