Haddonfield Friends School
Haddonfield Friends School prepares joyful and inquisitive young minds to carry the light of confidence, critical thinking, creativity, and stewardship in a diverse community of learners. Selecting the right school for your child is one of the most exciting and important decisions you will make. We invite you to experience our unique learning community and spirit of Haddonfield Friends School.

HFS has proven itself to be a warm, caring community for our two daughters, who have attended the school since they were toddlers. We value the personal attention they receive from teachers and administrators, and we treasure the community that HFS provides not only for our daughters, but for our family.

Consider this a glimpse into our enriching learning community here at HFS, where every voice is heard. I hope this website provides a helpful, authentic introduction to our unique learning community.

From hands-on STEM education to monarch butterfly parades, experiential learning opportunities in our historic town/region to original theater works and performances, middle school buddies who mentor our preschoolers to student-led community service projects that come to life all around the globe, I am excited to share the wonderful work happening at our school each and every day.
Mission & Difference
Report
Haddonfield Friends School prepares joyful and inquisitive young minds to carry the light of confidence, critical thinking, creativity, and stewardship in a diverse community of learners. We believe there is "that of God" in everyone. By recognizing this Inner Light, we strive to inspire students to approach learning opportunities with excitement, and a healthy optimism about the world and self.
Our History
Report
More than two centuries ago in 1786, several members of the Religious Society of Friends inaugurated the school in order to offer academic instruction in a setting that would honor Quaker values. Haddonfield Free School, as they named it, served the children of both Friends and non-Friends, and, in so doing, was the only "public" school in the borough for about 25 years.
Quakerism and Meeting for Worship
Report
The Quaker testimonies of simplicity, peace, integrity, community, equality, and stewardship ("SPICES") are woven into every aspect of school life. We practice the Quaker testimonies each and every day.

We use the SPICES to navigate academic and social-emotional discussions in the classroom, we approach problem-solving with integrity, and in a resourceful and peaceful manner, we make community service and engagement a centerpiece of our curriculum (for example, students attend school on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day to work on community service projects).

We are grateful for our incredibly passionate, dedicated faculty at Haddonfield Friends School. Read on to learn why our teachers are an important part of our learning community. HFS is my second home! I am a long-time member of the Haddonfield Friends School community. My children, Mitchell and Elise, are graduates of HFS and my husband, Tim, is a former board member.
