PDA is a Private Trade School, operating under license of Pennsylvania Department of Education, State Board of Licensed Schools. The Academy admits, trains and refers students without regard to race, color, sex or national origin. Our goal at Professional Drivers Academy is to provide the graduate with the necessary skills, education and training for employment as an entry tractor/trailer driver in the trucking industry.

A diploma is awarded to each student who satisfactorily completes the required 240-hours of classroom, lot and road training. This training enables the individual to obtain consideration for employment as an Entry Level Truck Driver.

Here at Professional Drivers Academy, we have qualified road instructors who have their CDL Class A license. Most of our family has 20+ years of teaching experience. We are here to make sure you get the best training to be safe to yourself and everyone else on the road. We are a family run organization who have been around since 1975.

This training course is designed to meet the needs of the student and the increasing demands of the trucking industry. It offers a unique course of classroom, practical instruction and on-the-road training. The unique and outstanding feature of this program is the emphasis upon experience. Students qualify for on-the-road training through class work and training lot applications, short street trips, and long road trips followed by a road test.

By the use of small, informal classroom situations, short homework assignments, personal attention to each student's individual needs and varied audio-visual aids, we are able to cover the most important aspects needed by today's drivers.

Some of the subjects covered during approximately 110 hours of classroom training are: Orientation, Trucking Nomenclature, Industry Makeup, U. S. DOT Regulations, Driver's Daily Logs, Hours of Service, Vehicle Components and Operation, First Aid Training, Transmissions and Shifting, Defensive Driving, Accident Prevention and Reporting, Freight Documents and Map Reading.

Are you unsure if you would like to drive a truck? Maybe you have some experience but would like to see what it would take to get your CDL. Let our knowledgeable instructors evaluate your needs for one hour behind the wheel on our large lot. Show the instructor what you know, let him/her give professional feedback before you commit to a specific course of action.

We work with many recruiters who visit throughout our course. Recruiters will share what they can offer, which often can be up to 100% tuition reimbursement. Professional Drivers Academy has many relationships with agencies throughout Pennsylvania. We can help you work with agencies to potentially receive grants to pay for your CDL.
